BLYTHE, Calif. - Blythe Police officers arrested Robert Jensen, 61, of Blythe, on suspicion of driving under the influence March 7.

Blythe Police Department received a call just before 7:30 a.m. Friday morning that someone was driving a vehicle in the 100 block of South Lovekin Blvd while under the influence. The caller gave the description of the vehicle as a tan "Jeep"-type of a vehicle. Officers stopped a Ford Escape matching the color description in the 100 block of North Main Street and the driver displayed symptoms of intoxication. After more investigation, officers took the driver, identified as Jensen, to Blythe Police Department. He was later released on his written promise to appear in court.

Jensen was elected to Palo Verde Unified School District Board of Trustees in 2011. He currently serves as the board clerk and works for Harmony Soup Kitchen as head cook.

So, what ended up happening with this? Does anyone know if he was convicted or going back to jail? He is still on the board, which is interesting, but I was just curious if anyone can fill in the missing pieces.

@....@@PB. Then have him fired that way, there can be a precedents made for future incidents involving other people in the department of education here in town.

But once the genie is out of the bottle, then you know the saying. All people will be fair game. There will be no defense for their offense.

If it is as bad as you say then you must get other agencies involved to investigate.

Before I forget, yes there have been issues with Bob's performance in the past.

I seem to remember a story in this paper some years ago when a student was bullied and he laughed it iff. Actually, the situation was the student was bound in duct tape, his mouth covered by duct tape and he was thrown in a garbage dumpster. The student struggled for several hours in the dumpster to free himself.

Bob laughed it off in the newspaper as a boys will be boys incident. He failed to call the police on the incident and he failed to take action. The student could have died.

This was a year or so before he was arrested, tried and convicted of DUI in the Albertson's parking lot after hitting a parked car. Its all in PVVT's archives, so go take a look.

@@ El Pica, Apparently you failed to understand the subtlety of my final comment.

If the Times were to put even an ounce of effort into investigating PVUSD, they'd find corruption and fraud so widespread and rampant it would scare any resident.

You forgot to mention the board member, former superintendent, whose wife was a self styled interior designer who was given a blank check (literally and figuratively) to design the board room of the rented building they use. The RivCo Grand Jury threatened indictment unless he resigned. And now he is a board member.

Or the tens of millions of dollars that the district has squandered. Or the teachers that have been allowed to resign when allegations of molestation surface.

But back to Bob. He has been arrested, tried and convicted several times for DUI and drug use. Its been reported in this very newspaper. Which leaves the question: has he been under the influence at board meetings?

@....@ El Pica Buyas. If you know so much of what the board does, why then did you not know what the other people were doing. That person that was investigated for assault. I guess he had nothing to go with kids. Father and son team that tried to scam money, they also had nothing to do with the kids. The Chief he also has nothing to do with the kids. These people were not (deleted), right? So what is their excuse?

Yes blame Bob, I guess you could even blame him for your short comings. Anyone else want to blame Bob for their problems also. I guess he could be the poster child for any problem.

Has there been any problem on Bob's job performances before in the past? Is he always angry at work? Lack of patience with people? Has he been coming to work late or intoxicated? Has he been neglecting his work? Does he sneak off during work for hours at a time? Has he missed any time from work due to his drinking? Has there been any complaints about his behavior at work from any parent due to excessive punishment to any of the kids? So how many sick days has he taken during the last 2 years? Or unexcused days off work?

So Mr Amazed. Will your answer be, How do I know any of that. Or are you going to say yes to all? If so show me the proof.

@El Pica

How much do you know about what a school board does? He doesn't deal with the kids?

Who do you think votes on student discipline (expulsions)? Hint: there are five people elected by the community that do so.

I suggest you read about the role of bord members in a school district before you minimze their role and authority.

You just might find yourself amazed at what has been going on.

@R.R. Punish him for the DUI. Let him have his day in court. Let him pay the fines and do the time if any.

He does not deal with the kids per-say. He deals with other adults you know the ones that never touch alcohol at a party or never drink at home, or go out to bars or night clubs.

So you had a father and son team here that tried to do WHAT? You had another person that was investigated for WHAT? Sexual assault. You also had a Police Chief that OK-ed a make believe shoot out at school. What ever happen to Morals, common Sense, and honesty?????

Everyone gave these people a pass. Mayberry had OTIS. Blythe has BOB. So until he starts coming to work (deleted), then we can fire him.

It is amazing how I read some of these blogs and people are ready to side with this (deleted) and act like nothing is wrong. I have read words like "forgive and forget" benefit of the doubt" etc in the comments and I wonder what is wrong with you. What if he were to kill someone you love because he is drunk driving-it happens way to often-so far he has been lucky. A hospital board member was arrested for something that hasn't even been proven she was guilty of and her picture was on the front page, and often continues to be, and many of you same people want to see her in jail and lose her position on the board etc. I don't understand-can someone explain why the difference in treatment because to me it is way out of proportion-habitual drunk driver outweighs possible conflict of interest violation, any day....

Ez off , this poor man has to deal with all the thrown underneath the rug kinda business that PVUSD does or should I say they turn there heads to! Heck, why do you think the guy(deleted) When your pretty much the only vote plus maybe one more on board trying to make a difference. Its pretty simple folks and very sad, hang in there Mr. Jensen.
People are easy to judge the situation instead of helping!

Bob,
Please go away and get help for the fourth time! Get off of the board and leave yourself with some shred of dignity. (deleted)

2 more DUI's and he will be eligible to run for Supervisor for the school system. He just needs a little more baggage. Let him keep his job. You get someone else and they might be more of a problem.

Article comment by: Good Question

Of all the ranting here, I did see one great question:

Do we know if he shows up sober at the board meetings?

If he's not and he hasn't, there are quite a few things he has voted on that he didn't have the capacity to vote on. Votes while intoxicated don't count.

Someone needs to pose the question.

And that brings the next question. If he wasn't sober, why did the board do nothing about it?
