TIMES EDITORIAL: Thank you to those who support and stand by the Palo Verde Valley Times

One thing we appreciate at the Palo Verde Valley Times is the customers that make it possible for us to put out a newspaper: our advertisers and subscribers. Through the good times and the bad, they've stood by us and supported both the newspaper and website (pvvt.com) even in the face of threats from those public figures who don't like the light of truth being shined on them. We're not backing down and, apparently, there are many who feel the same way. We can't thank you enough.

In return for your loyalty, we strive to put out the best product possible, providing news and insight into local events that you can trust and believe in. And for those who don't believe a word we write, we provide forums where you can offer your opinion as well, anonymously, if that's your wish. We just ask that you be civil in your comments. One of our primary goals at the Times is to expose our advertisers to thousands of readers who will then, in turn, use their services or keep in mind the availability of those services when the need arrives. The only way that is going to happen is if we put out interesting news and features that people want to pick up and read. While we can always improve, our web and subscription numbers tell us we're putting the news you want to read.

We're also grateful to the individuals, organizations and groups around town who submit to us pictures and stories about what they are doing and why. With such a limited newsroom staff, we greatly depend on the community to provide us with the information, be it hard news, features, sports, anniversaries, births, etc. If you have news you wish to see published in the Times, please submit it to us and we'll do what we can to oblige you. This is what makes it a community newspaper.

Like it or not, the Palo Verde Valley Times has had and continues to have an important impact on the community. We'll continue to be a bad dream to those who wish to exploit our town and a light for those who are seeking information and an educated opinion.

We don't plan on going away anytime soon and that's because of the continued support we receive from so many.

Again, thank you so much to our advertisers and readers for standing by us and supporting our goals, which are the same as yours, to create a better Blythe for ourselves, our families and friends.

The hospital is a public entity and we all know if we take the time to listen to recordings and read financials how bad they are doing.
The PVVT is a private company owned by a larger company and you have no idea what their financial picture is.
Plus they do not have to put up with the MEC and the three Amigos!

So that's your lame commit @@hahaha bwha, that the Times is getting by on selling end rolls off of printing paper and only 10 subscribers and YOU know 3 businesses that pulled out, boy aren't you one smart cookie, so how many end rolls do they need to sell? and how much would you have to multiply that by to pull the hospital out of the hole, that your favorite physician had has been micro managing into the ground.

The PVVT has some newspaper end rolls that they are trying to sell and several big spots in the newspaper where they themselves are advertising for advertisers if you are looking to help them out. They have even had enough space to put some cute little games lately. I'm sure the 10 of you that are going to go renew your subscription are going to be of great benefit to keeping the PVVT thriving. I know of at least 3 businesses that quit advertising in the paper because they felt that the PVVT was doing more damage than good.

I do not get the paper as I no longer live in Blythe. Am considering it though to show my support.
I have notice that the ads on the web are of greater number now then in the past so I do not hold the same opinion as you.
It appears to me that support is UP!

After reading #anonymous post it's not hard to figure out what is going on, that could be a reason why pvvt is not reporting more, my thought only...Thats why ceo interviewed on the radio..But he should of had a spanish speaker as well ..As there are many many non speaking or unstanding enlish people in Blythe....Oh by the way my son just bought the times..Pvvt is in better condition then you would like to think..I think the hospital will fold before the paper...It's a waiting game isn't it...How you gonna feel if the last laugh is on you....HAHAHA

You guys keep telling yourself this... Maybe someday it will come true.

Seriously though. You guys are dying, your ad revenue is down and your support is at an all time low.

How much longer are you going to continue to struggle against what we all see is going to happen? It's only a matter of time -- be it a few months or a couple years, and you too will be amongst the ranks of all the other failed newspapers. Welcome to the Internet!

Since when does the PVVT have to be told something to write an article about the hospital or anything else. I thought that journalist stayed up to date on issues that they report about. So either the PVVT is writing stories based on third party accounts or they are selectively reporting what they want the community to hear. Once again there is many other issues in this town besides the hospital and one city councilman. Where is the reporting about these things. Supposedly there was a threat made by a school official towards a union member after the last school board meeting but we heard nothing about it. I also read online about a city councilman abusing his position on the city council to try and get into the races for free. A police report was even filed but once again silence! The college had funds mismanaged to the tune of over twenty million dollars but little was said about that. When the hospital was losing millions under the old management we heard nothing and the PVVT even told us that the hospital was on the right track. I guess that was a track to bankruptcy that they were referring to. To say that the PVVT does not have an agenda is ridiculous. All that is being asked is to report all the facts and quit just reporting what fits their agenda. I do not think that is to much to ask. Why do you think less and less local businesses advertise in it anymore?

Finally! I see people beginning to come forth! Hoorah! I totally understand the timidity of business owners who don't want to be black-balled by the tyrants in town. Just change your name, like we all do! At least "they" will realize they don't actually hold the power the way they think. Good. Keep up the pressure. We'll get Blythe running right again.

What a shame that the people of Blythe are not able to stand up and be heard. Many of us are business owners and can not with stand being black balled for speaking up as to our real feelings of this mess! People have lives and families to provide for. Thank you PVVT for having the guts to stand up and keeping we little people informed.

I suppose you are the type of person that feels people are allowed to be seen and not heard? If the hospital would stop tring to cover up issues like who is being given the power to run PVH and work with the paper to promote the new ideas being presented we might see improvement for everyone. The last meeting, the CEO was asked if he has provided the paper with any information on the new ideas for the hospital. He replied no! Now if PVVT refused PVH the opportunity to print their own information there would be a true compliant But that is not the case. You are probably one of the selected few that attempt to distract the public from what the board and the doctors have on their agendas! Themselves! I have seen truth be printed and if Grady Setzler was still with us he would say print the truth and nothing but! Why are you so afraid of the public hearing the facts good or bad?

Looks to me as if Sam Burton, Trina Sartin and Sandra Hudson are channeling all the money to their friend on the MEC just in case the Hospital does close!
Think about it!

You keep telling yourself that Marty and Debbie. Keep playing like you are the crusaders of justice. The fact is you are on the wrong side of everything -- you've always been, and will always be. You can't see right from wrong.

The reason the paper is dying is because of you. Revenues are down, circulation is down... Face it, the paper is on it's way out.

Grady Setzler was the last honorable publisher. He was a good man.
