4/30/2013 5:00:00 PM Child, 8, injured on mini-bike
Special to the Times
BLYTHE - An 8-year-old Blythe boy suffered a leg injury after crashing into a Jeep while on a mini-bike in the 300 block of Earle Street the morning of April 27. Officers were advised that an air transport was needed and an emergency landing area was set up in the dirt field at Barnard and Tesoro Lane where a helicopter landed.
According to police, a Jeep, driven by Damian Picart, 20, of Blythe, had been parked along the east curb line waiting for a passenger. Picart then pulled away from the curb, and began a u-turn to drive away southbound. The minor child was riding a "mini bike" type vehicle, northbound when, for an unknown reason, failed to stop for the Jeep that was crossing in front of it, striking the side of the Jeep. Neither the driver nor passenger in the Jeep was injured. The investigation in this case is ongoing but police confirm that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved.
