Dove season over; town looks to October events
Dove season finished on Sept. 15 and according to those who went on the hunt, the dove were plentiful. However, those that enjoy hunting can still hunt for the Eurasian dove.

Plaque honoring Fort Gaston installed soon
E. Clampus Vitus plans to erect a plaque at Fort Gaston Historical Society Museum in Palo Verde Oct. 18 to honor the museum's accomplishments. This group, E. Clampus Vitus, is known for erecting plaques at important sites across the nation.

Three-day holiday and dove season keeps town busy
The three-day Labor Day holiday and the opening of dove season crowded the town with visitors and dove hunters. The Rod and Gun club welcomed the hunters with a dinner Saturday night and the Palo Verde Improvement Association hosted a breakfast and dinner for the dove hunters Sunday. By all accounts, the food at both places was "terrific."

Tamarisk Mini Mart opens in Palo Verde this week
Residents were excited as the Tamarisk Mini Mart opened in town on Aug. 23.

Many of the people who attended were delighted to see that many items residents needed would now be available in town.

PALO VERDE, Calif. - Re-elected Imperial County Sheriff Ray Loera visited Palo Verde residents in the town last week. But, possibly due to the short notice of Loera's visit, not as many people showed up to greet the new sheriff as hoped.

Monsoon season is here. Palo Verde and the surrounding area experienced the monsoon season Saturday night when heavy rain fell from the sky. Interestingly, very little rain fell in other parts of the valley, including Blythe.
