BLYTHE, Calif. - Pastor Gary Boye was installed as an Intentional Interim Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church March 9. He will serve for up to one year or until a permanent pastor is called to the local church.
Boye comes from Tempe, Ariz., where he maintains a home with his wife Jane and his two sons, Matthew and Peter.
He received his Masters of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. in 1976 and since then he has served in churches in Nebraska, California, Texas, and Arizona. He also has experience in hospital ministry and was a hospital chaplain in Illinois and Texas. He also has a certification in Specialized Pastoral Ministry.
Boye's family enjoys sports, especially golf and hiking. His wife Jane likes to read and quilt, and Boye, who studied at The Colorado Institute of Art, enjoys creating watercolors.
Boye says he is excited about the ministry at Zion and hopes to meet as many members of the community as he can. He invites the community and its families to come to services held Sunday mornings at 8 and 10:15 a.m. and Wednesday evening Lenten services at 7 p.m. Zion Lutheran Church is at 701 E. Chanslorway.
