Your choice of dogs at the animal shelter
Special to the Times

BLYTHE - Riverside County Department of Animal Services features three dogs that are available for adoption. Stop in and visit the Blythe Animal Shelter located at 245 S. Carlton (behind ACE Hardware) from Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

"Candy" is a female lab-mix approximately 3 months old. She is a sweetheart.

"Cassie" is an Aussie-mix approximately 4 months old. This sassy female pup is in need of a home.

"Cami" is a female terrier approximately 1 year of age. She is a photo hog and would make a great family pet.

To adopt a dog, the fee is $105 or $75 if the adopter is over the age of 55. Cat adoptions are still only $15.

For both cats and dogs the license fee is not included. There are many dogs that are in need of homes.

Some are possibly people's pets, so if you are missing your pet please stop in at the shelter to check the animals out.

For current pet owners, it is encouraged to have your pet installed with a microchip. Riverside County Animal Shelter offers micro-chipping for $20.

The procedure will help prevent your pet from being separated from you for an extended period of time.

If picked up, Blythe Animal Control can scan your pet and reunite you without being taken to the shelter and incurring fees. Remember your pet is your family.

Cat vaccinations and other vaccinations are also available.

Now the shelter offers dog toys for a donation that goes toward the enrichment of the animals at the local shelter.

Also, the shelter is seeking volunteers to help out at the new facility.

Volunteers will be assigned to help with the animals by walking the dogs, brushing and petting the cats, grooming the dogs, greeting customers, cleaning kennels and more.

Volunteer applications are available online at www.rcdas.org or in person at the Blythe Animal Shelter.

There will be a Low-Cost Rabies Clinic on Feb. 6 from 4-5:30 p.m. For pricing, contact the Blythe Animal Shelter.

For more information on fees, the featured animals, other animals that are available, or rabies clinic call (760) 921-7857 or 760-922-6111.
