LETTER: Good eating at Palo Verde Hospital

It seems much easier for folk to find fault and bellyache about how bad things are. I do it now and then. But I have two kudos I wish to share concerning our local hospital.

First, a dear friend has been hospitalized for over a week and has found the hospital and staff to be amazingly efficient, helpful and caring. This is the kind of news I love to hear.

Second, years ago Chuck Hays put me on to the cafeteria at the hospital so I started eating there. The food was good and the service was fine. Then over the years two outside companies were brought in to manage the kitchen. The food quality went south and the prices went north. One of my favorite meals was the Ruben sandwich. Not the same after new management came in.

I have just learned after eating there today that the kitchen is now under hospital management. Good. The food was great and the smiling ladies who waited on me were delightful and courteous.

Please everyone, spread the word. Start helping the hospital by having lunch there now and then. Today's meal of roast beef, carrots and mashed potatoes was excellent. Join me in congratulating Palo Verde Valley Hospital for once again providing excellent food for the community and hospital staff.

Signed [grin],

The cafeteria at the hospital is great!
It was, is, and will always be the only place in town where you can get a full meal for $5- contract company or not.

Eating at the cafeteria is not real safe as you may have a tray of food flying across the room when an unexpected tantrum sets in...It did indeed happen...You don't have to think real hard to know who is guilty of the tantrum....

Do the doctors get free meals as part of their privileges? Just wondering......
Glad the hospital food is good.
Wonder if the board members and management get free or discounted meals.
Hate to be cynical but with all that's going on .... Just wondering.
Maybe the restaurants in town need to be worried.

Glad to hear they got some thing good going....I wish they would spread some of the good happenings to the ER...It really could use it...But know one wants to talk about it or mention what goes on there....
