BLYTHE, Calif. - It is with great pride that Ironwood State Prison (ISP) announces the appointment of Neil McDowell to Chief Deputy Warden, effective March 3, 2014.
McDowell began his career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, (CDCR) on Dec. 19, 1994, as a correctional officer at Ironwood State Prison. In October of 1997, he promoted to the position of Correctional Counselor I. He was later promoted to Correctional Counselor II Specialist in August of 2001 and took on the responsibilities of Correctional Counselor II Supervisor, in December of 2001. In February of 2004, he promoted to Correctional Captain at ISP and in February of 2009, he promoted to Associate Warden at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.
With new challenges in sight, McDowell accepted the Chief Deputy Warden position at Ironwood State Prison. McDowell's positive outlook, exceptional ethics and leadership has carried him through many challenges throughout his career.
