The American Legion is seeking the owner of the pictured Garrison cap. The owner was a past vice president in 1947 and a past president (year unknown). The Legion would like to hang and honor the owner but need help identifying its owner.
BLYTHE - The American Legion Frank Post #24 received a Garrison cap dropped in their mailbox the first week of September and need help in identifying who it belonged to. American Legion representatives believe the drop-off to be a donation and are truly appreciative of the gesture but now they are requesting that the person or family of the owner of the cap to contact them with that information.
The American Legion would like to frame and place a name placard of the cap's owner as a part of their history wall.
"This is a part of history and we want to hang it up and honor it," said Joe Rivera, American Legion finance officer.
The Garrison cap is from a past vice president from 1947. It is blue and has a gold star emblem with a "5" on the inside. The owner of the cap was also a past president (year unknown).
If you know who the owner of the Garrison cap or the family of the cap is please contact the American Legion at 760-922-2254 after 3 p.m., Monday-Friday. Please leave a name and number and American Legion member will return your call.
"We are thankful for the donation, and we would really like to give the person who owned it their due since they served the Legion and the country 66 years ago," said Rivera.
