7/3/2013 6:00:00 AM Quartzsite to hold 4th of July events
Joanne Winer QUARTZSITE TIMES
QUARTZSITE - Despite the high temperatures at this time of year, Quartzsite is ready to celebrate the 4th of July and everyone is invited to come and help honor the birth of our nation. The events will take place at the Town Park on Plymouth Road in Quartzsite, near the southeast corner of the park near Quail Trail on the football field.
The concession stand will have lots of great food and drinks available and there are lots of activities for the whole family. A frozen t-shirt contest will be held and the kids will love the water slide and other games. The fire department will bring their trucks and have their slide show featuring local fire department personnel and their training for their jobs as first responders to any fire, road accident, health issues and more.
Make sure to bring some chairs, towels, sunscreen and hats to make the heat more bearable, especially for the little ones. With this high heat, you might be better off leaving your pets at home since there is not much shade available there.
The activities will start at 6 p.m., so hopefully it will not be as hot as it has been in the last few days. Once it gets dark, around 9 p.m., they will be putting on one of the greatest fireworks displays in the area, thanks to the Town of Quartzsite and local firefighters who take care of the fireworks safely.
This annual event gets bigger and better every year and organizers would like to invite everyone from all around the area to come out and have a great time.
