BLYTHE. Calif. - With a trio of league contests in the Imperial Valley League's second round, the Palo Verde High School Yellow Jacket soccer teams completed their schedule of contests scheduled for Scott Stadium on the PVHS campus.

Highlight for the week and a half stretch was the Lady Jackets' second win over Brawley for the IVL season. Again the locals posted a 1-0 win over the Cats with Daniela Pena scoring the deciding goal.

In the first meeting, Pena scored on a penalty kick, this time around Pena scored after a pass from fellow senior, Emma Rocha.

The other two matches saw the Jackets fall to the two top teams in the IVL as they fell to league unbeaten Central 11-1 and the Eagles of Southwest by an 8-2 count.

Destiny Rivera scored the lone goal in the loss to the Lady Spartans while the Rocha to Pena combination was good for one goal while Augustin tallied on a pass from Cecelia Camacho for the other Jacket goal.

The Lady Jackets stand at 2-8-1 on the campaign while their IVL mark is 2-6-1.

The Jacket boys battled both Central and Brawley to scoreless ties in their first league meetings of the season but didn't fare as well this time around as the Spartans shut out the Jackets 6-0 in their meeting here in Blythe while Brawley also put six goals on the board handing the Jackets a 6-1 defeat.

Felix Ruiz scored the lone Jacket goal of the contest.

The highlight of the three-game stretch came in Palo Verde's final home contest as they battled the Eagles of Southwest to a 2-2 tie with Ruiz scoring both Jacket goals.

The Jacket boys stand at 2-9-4 on the campaign while they have a 1-5-3 record in IVL play.

The final three contests left on the soccer schedule are on the road at the Jackets had games scheduled at Imperial and Holtville this week with their IVL finale set for next week in Calexico.
