OBITUARY:Norma Dene Rutledge

Norma Dene Rutlege

Norma Dene Rutlege, 80, passed away at her home in Thousand Palms, Calif. on Oct. 18, 2013. She was born March 14, 1933 in Sprinkle, Texas to Seth and Pearl Blocker.

She was the youngest member of the family. Her siblings were Preston, Vivian, James Aubrey, Melba and Maida. The family moved to Blythe in November of that same year. They rode on a train to Needles, and then transferred to the train that came into Blythe. She attended school in Blythe. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the First Southern Baptist Church while in Blythe.

Norma worked at Midway Cleaners where she met Leonard Rutledge, a farmer, and they married in 1953. Later she moved to Thousand Palms where she resided until her death.

Survivors include her sister Maida Kelley of Blythe, her children, James Douglas (Anna) Rutledge, of Henderson, Nev., Leonard Preston (Ellen) Rutledge of Blythe, Phyllis Ann Ferguson and Daniel Roy Rutledge of Thousand Palms. She also leaves grandchildren Steven, Stewart and Sean Rutledge, Diana Mallet, Megan Morelock, Roger and Michael Ferguson along with six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the Palo Verde Cemetery on Feb. 7, 2014, 11 a.m.

So sorry to hear of Norma's passing. Have fond memories of Norma and Slim when we all were in the Blythe Jeep Club. My sincere sympathy to the family. May she soar with the angels.

My heart is saddened by this I did not know. Phyllis Preston Danny and Doug thoughts and prayers to you all..Your mom was a big part of my life through our jr high and high school days...
