OBITUARY: Miles Scott

Miles Scott, 76, peacefully passed away at his home with family by his side on July 12, 2013 in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.

He was born in Watson, Ark. on May 29, 1937 to Taft and Miles L. Scott. He came to Blythe in 1953 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army to protect his country.

On Dec. 31, 1960, Miles married the late Jessie Mae Hill Scott and together they were blessed with seven children. He worked as an Operator and Engineer for Kaiser Steel for 46 years. Miles loved spending time with his family, fishing, drinking coffee with his friends, listening to gospel music while sitting outside and completing puzzle books.

Miles later met and married Magdalene Mitchell on Oct. 20, 2007 and was blessed to add four more children to his family.  

Miles is survived by his second wife, Magdalene Scott; children Alice Scott-Thompson, Karen Mitchell, Vivian Scott, Donna Scott, Sherry (Shawn) Hamilton, Oliver (Rachel) Scott, Craig Scott, Johnny Salazar-Scott, Dewayne (Margaret) Mitchell, Michael (Lynn) Mitchell and David Mitchell; sisters Mutriel Mailes and Joann Sam; brothers Andy Scott and Larry (Christine) Scott; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Scott; his parents Miles and Taft Scott; and brother Taft W. Scott Jr.

Visitation will be held July 21, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Frye Chapel.  Funeral service will be on July 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. also at Frye Chapel with burial following immediately at Palo Verde Cemetery.

Really gone miss you Miles. you did so much for others, walk so many to their final destination and now some will is walking you to yours. I know the churches and nursing homes will miss you for sure, always contributing to others needs, financially, mentally, physically and above all Spiritually. You were a good husband and father, brother, uncle, cousin, Friend...you left good stock in your children, and I am proud to be in your family circle. Rest in peace Pearlie...rest and sleep...listen for the shout....it's coming...and I pray we will all be in the first resurrection. god bless Love Lena.

To All of the Scott Family..My thoughts and prayers remain with you as you travel this journey of laying your Dad to rest..Remember to always touch your hearts for he will always be right there..the one great thing I always say is its awesome of the imprints of memories they leave behind with us..It doesn't ever get easier, its just that some days aren't as tuff as the others..He is smiling the same in Heaven as he is in this picture..Hugs and Love to you All...Janice
