4/17/2013 10:47:00 AM OBITUARY: Esther Dorothy DeDecker
Our hearts are saddened by the passing of our mother, Esther Dorothy DeDecker, 94, on April 9, 2013. She was born on Nov. 13, 1918.
Mom enjoyed traveling with dad, Francis V. DeDecker, who preceded her in death in 1993. Together they were camp hosts with the National Forest Service during the summers after their retirement. Before retirement Mom was employed by the Palo Verde Unified School District as a kitchen helper. Prior to that Mom and Dad were self-employed with the Tom Houston Peanut Company selling peanuts, candy and chips in Blythe and the surrounding area. Mom was an avid believer in volunteering and spent many hours helping others.
Mom along with Dad, raised four children who remembered her being strong-willed with a strong religious belief. In her later years she got a kick out of being one of the "oldest moms" acknowledged during the Mother's Day services at church.
Esther is survived by her children, Gene DeDecker, Joan "Susie" Lindbergh-Scholtz (Harry), Vicki Parkinson (Robert), Patti Donelson (Keith); eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Esther also has one surviving sibling, Margaret Merck of Victor, Iowa.
Rosary and visitation will be April 25, 2013 at 7.p.m. at Frye Chapel. Funeral mass will be April 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church with Father Henry Licznerski officiating. A gathering to follow after mass in the CCD building.
In lieu of flowers make a donation to a charity of your choice.

To the DeDecker family... Prayers go out to each of you. What a wonderful lady your mom was. Always so cheerful and kind. She was also a wonderful seamstress (I used her many times). Another Angel has reached heaven .
