Martha R. Logan, 86, of Las Cruces, N.M., passed away in Gilbert, Ariz. on Jan. 8, 2013.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1926 in Farmersville, Texas to Richard and Aris Baker, and grew up on the family farm.
She married Joseph D. Logan in 1947 and moved to Blythe in 1948; where she initially worked in banking. She had a son and a daughter, and helped support her husband in the farming and produce business for 23 years.
In 1970, the family moved to Las Cruces, where she continued to raise her children and often helped in the family's restaurant business, Logan's Restaurant and later, Your Choice Restaurant at Valley Drive and Main, until 1997.
She loved to tell stories about her life, children and grandchildren, and did so while brightening people's days when she visited elderly friends and church members over the years.
She was a longtime member of the Palener Church of Christ, and enjoyed playing the piano to accompany songs at meetings of the Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces in years past.
She is survived by her children, Joseph David Logan, Jr. and wife Carolyn Logan of Gilbert, and Lisa J. Logan of Las Cruces; grandchildren, Jonathan and Christopher Logan of Gilbert; nephew, Kerry Glass and wife Susan Munro of Pepeekeo, Hawaii; niece, Vicki Minter and husband Robert and son Austin of Coppell, Texas; niece, Amy Vaughn and husband Bill and son Parker of Norman, Okla.; niece, Elizabeth Cullins and husband Sean and daughter Abby of Goldsby, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph D. Logan; brother, Bobby Baker and sister, Wilma Glass.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 17, 2013 at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home in Las Cruces. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating the services was Ron Herring.
Pallbearers were Kerry B. Glass, Donald H. Wiese, Jr., Robert G. Wiese, Richard R. Abbey, and members from the Panlener Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons Jonathan and Christopher Logan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
