I first met Ray Howie in 1947 and have had close ties with him until 3 weeks ago at which time I last talked to him on the phone. We spent many years "doing" the desert and all fun things together. Ray was the most gentle and kind person I have known. After we moved from Blythe to Redlands, he & Dot would stop to visit very often. My thanks to the Hightower family for caring for him in his late year. I will miss visiting him in Quartzsite on my trips to Californis.

What wonderful times Bettie and I had on the winter weekends with Ray and others in the desert, the KOFA , Eagle Eye and of course Telluride. digging bottles was the reason, the reward was the fellowship. What a wonderful person to spend time with.
