Sheriff investigate an early morning shooting
BLYTHE, Calif. — Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that happened sometime Thursday night or Friday morning on 10th Avenue between Defrain and Arrowhead Boulevards.

BLYTHE, Calif. - Riverside County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting that happened sometime Thursday night or Friday morning on 10th Avenue between Defrain and Arrowhead Boulevards.

Deputies received a call at 6:17 a.m. Friday morning, that a man was lying on the side of the road on 10th Ave. and he appeared to have blood on his head. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man with a single gunshot wound to the head. The unidentified man was still breathing but unconscious. Blythe Ambulance took the man to Palo Verde Hospital where he was met by a helicopter and flown to a Phoenix, Ariz. hospital.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is treating the case as a homicide attempt and closed 10th Ave. from Defrain Blvd. to Arrowhead. That section of 10th Ave. will remain close while sheriff homicide detectives investigate the case throughout the day, April 4.

The unidentified victim is described as either a white or Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s.

I hope they catch the low life piece of crap who was such a COWARD and took this young Innocent Young Mans life... What is Blythe becoming ? It used to be a very Respectable town now there are so many lowlifes and wannabe gangbangers taking over the town..I feel sorry for all the Nice decent people who are still trying to live in Blythe.. To the Coward who took this young man's life you will pay for what you did and you will get caught I hope when you do they give you the Death penalty and I hope you rot in hell... your a worthless piece of crap and you don't deserve to be walking around on this earth... Your a Coward and a low life your probably reading the paper and I hope you read the comment I am writing ..

Why is it always the young innocent that get taken, and not the ones that really need to b taken out! I'm sure this family will get justice! I just can't wait to c what kind of loser would do this! Couldn't have happened to a nicer kid. Douglas was never into anything foul or illegal. I hope you pull through buddy. Praying for you to get through this. It's unreal. He's such a good kid.

It is a great tragedy that this Navy corpsman was able to survive Afghanistan as medic and was then shot down in the street. Surely someone saw or heard something that will aid in the investigation of such a senseless act.
