Blythe Police are seeking an armed robbery suspect who they say was caught burglarizing a residence when the woman who lived there walked in.

Miguel Cervantes Jr., 20, of Blythe, is wanted by the police and should be considered armed. He is described as being a Hispanic male, 5'07" and 140 pounds, with black hair, cut short, and brown eyes.

The incident unfolded just after noon Wednesday when Blythe Police officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of E. Chaparral, in reference to the woman who walked in on the burglary.

The responding officer learned that she had returned home a short time earlier, and upon entering, confronted Cervantes inside the home Cervantes is alleged to have pointed a gun at the woman and locked the front door so she could not leave. He then had her remove her dog from the back yard while he fled out the rear door of the home.

Police say Cervantes took cash and property from the home, which was recovered at the rear of the house where it appeared Cervantes had dropped it.

Police attempted to locate Cervantes at locations where he or associates are known to frequent, but he was not located.

Police say the weapon used was not recovered and Cervantes should be considered armed.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or Cervantes' location, is asked to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by email at blythepd@cityofblythe.ca.gov.

Funny way of life some people expect all to live by their rules. Guns bad all people that own guns are evil. They lump the criminal with a Law Abiding Gun Owner. Most Politicians on the Left that are against gun ownership they themselves have gun permits. With that said. Now Mr. Daniel Jensen. what would you do if you came home, and found a man with a gun. would you welcome him with open arms and give him everything that he wanted? But what if he wanted your family? Would you still welcome him with open arms? Me with one arm holding a 357. Most people like you only see life through rosy color glass'es. That's until something bad happens. Unfortunately by then it's too late. I hope you never see the bad. Live Long and Prosper. Remember that 911 is a joke.

I am curious was this young man a relative of someone already locked up in one of the prisons? Everyone seems to think the Prisons brought crime to Blythe which I must disagree. Crime was there way before the Prisons arrived sorry to tell you all. I agree with the person who is a multiple gun owner. Growing up we had loaded guns in my parents closet for just that purpose. I currently have a loaded gun for protection as well as bats and whatever is handy. Come in my house if the dogs dont get you, we will! Come on in. California believes we can change these individuals and turn them from a life of crime. Not true.

@ Daniel
Are you kidding me? Really? If someone comes into MY house uninvited ( including and not limited to any law inforcement) They will regret it. Do I look forward too it? of course not.

Dear "Multiple Gunowner" a.k.a. Eager To Kill,
Do you seriously believe that violence is the cure for violence? You are only perpetuating the vicious cycle of hate. You are way off track, and definitely part of the problem, and not the solution. Good grief Charlie Brown......ONE LOVE

Sounds like if we leave our home we have to have a gun before we can enter again...

My comment is not shown and it said no names or nothing bad yet the multiple gun owner can make a death threat publicly and it gets posted? Im starting to think that maybe the criminals arent the complete problem in this town.

I totally agree with what "Get a Life" has to say. I just found it hysterical that a post clearly written in twitter format asked someone to "learn to read and write."

Get a life, get a job, stop taking from other people and this community. U should be real proud of your mug in the paper - think of your ancestors who gave u the opportunities u have that u have destroyed. There is no excuse for a 20 year old man to be breaking in to peoples homes and robbing them - no excuse period. What's wrong with EARNING your food, clothes, etc. why does this community and this homeowner owe u anything??? Your the one that owes alot to alot of people, starting with respecting your family who allowed u to exist. Learn what the words EARN AND RESPECT MEAN. U won't have anything until u earn it. Before u or anyone makes excuses for you - learn how to read and write and then u can get a job - no excuse for ignorance, stupidity and laziness.
