9/29/2009 1:16:00 PM 'Fashion' the theme of Saturday's Miss Blythe Pageant

BLYTHE - Seven local young ladies are getting ready for their competition at The Miss Blythe Pageant scheduled for Saturday night.
The theme for this year's event is "Fashion," and attendees will be treated to a fashion review of the Sonia Moreno Collection.
Moreno is from Blythe and has recently had her collection featured in Hollywood events with one of her designs actually featured in a Walt Disney movie production.
Over the last four weeks the contestants have been rehearsing all phases of the competition which will include interview, swimwear, talent, evening wear and on stage questions.
The pageant will be held at the Palo Verde College, Clancy Osborne Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now at the Blythe Area Chamber of Commerce, Palo Verde Valley Times or from any of the contestants. Also this year, is the continuation of the Miss Blythe Princess Program, coordinated by Miss Blythe 2003 Samantha Heusdens.
This is a program for young girls ages 5-10. This year there are 15 princesses and they have participated in numerous activities leading up to the pageant.
Also scheduled to be in Blythe for the pageant is reigning Miss California's Outstanding Teen Monica Stainer.
Stainer just last month competed for the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen, where she was preliminary talent and evening wear winner and ultimately 4th runner up to Miss America's Outstanding Teen.
She will be performing her talent of ballet to Don Quixote. In addition, returning to Blythe for her second year as emcee/entertainer, is Miss California 2007, Melissa Chaty. Our reigning Miss Blythe, Kati VanderPol, will also be performing.
Contestants this year include, Whitney Lomax, Tara Perkins, Michele Lisa, Heidi Coomes, Simone Lindberg, Julie Mitchell, and Justine St. John.
