BLYTHE - Russell Arlos Williams 45, of Blythe, was arrested on July 12 in Indio for possessing child pornography, sending masturbation videos to two minors, and having sexual chats with a third minor.

Williams was employed as a teacher at Ehrenberg Elementary School for the last 12 years.

In a felony complaint filed on July 18 in an Indio courtroom, Williams is accused of knowingly and unlawfully sending and distributing masturbation videos of three different minors on April 21. He is also being accused of engaging in a sexual chat with a third Jane Doe on the same day. On the day of his arrest, Riverside County District Attorney's SAFE (Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement) discovered eight separate videos of child pornography on personal home computer.

The Quartzsite Elementary School Governing Board, which also oversees Ehrenberg Elementary, terminated Williams on July 25 during an open meeting stating he "failed to immediately contact his supervisor to notify the district of his arrest."

None of the victims in the complaint are from the Blythe or Ehrenberg areas.

Williams was released on $55,000 bail and is scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 23 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

If anyone has any information on Williams, they are asked to contact Riverside County District Attorney's Office at 951-955-5400 or toll-free at 888-374-1235, SAFE Task Force Commander Jose Rodriguez at 760-863-8710, or Riverside County D.A. Investigator Eileen Casey at 951-955-0253. You may also contact Quartzsite District #4 Superintendent Jacque Price at 928-923-7900 or the La Paz County Sheriff's Offce at 928-669-9560.

Williams was a teacher for fifteen years. His first job was in NM on the Navajo Reservation where kids were EXTREMELY lucky to get an education. Williams gave everything he had to teaching those kids.

EES was a continuation of that. If he was a creep, or if he was in it for the money, wouldn't BMS have been a better option? Especially since lived nearby? No, he wanted to make a difference.

Everyone commenting about how disgusting/creepy he is--think about yourself. Have you ever downloaded something sketchy, perhaps a song from a questionable source? How easy is it to catch a virus? Or download something you didn't mean to? How easy is it to talk to someone you thought was someone else? It's the Internet, people.

Point is, you don't know him. The school's administration is fine--the board is run primarily by parents. There were no complaints before this (whatever the rumors and schadenfreudian opportunists espouse)--he poured his heart and soul into that job--and he was very well-liked and respected by his colleagues and yes, even his students.

@I'm just saying. Make up your mind at first you bad mouth the people for writing after the fact. Now it's something else.

You know people might have had their suspicions on him. Think about it. Does that make that person guilty of anything? No it does not.

The only thing that the principle could have done was to go to the School Board or the Police, and let them know that a lot of parents were concern about this person.

With that he, then had done his job. But if a lot of red flags were popping up on his watch, and he did nothing, maybe he might not get in trouble with the law, but with the parents we will have to wait, and see.

In parting I can only say. Don't Hate Me BRO.

@ el picas buyas. (deleted) My point is if you were one of the parents that complained about him...what kind of parent are you that you allowed the principle to do nothing about it. If that was my child trust I would not give anyone the chance to ignore my concerns I would of gone over their head and I would not of stopped till something was done about it.

Article comment by: Obvious Lack of leadership

Obviously the person in charge of this school didn't do their job and more then likely neither did anyone else that took part in the hiring process or the follow up process. I am going to guess if you look back you will see a pattern of leadership not taking action or taking the wrong action. Look close.. its there im sure.

@ I'm just saying. You are just mad that it was not you that had first dibs on this person. Even one out of a 100 people, if one person is telling the truth that they told someone in school about this person, and they did nothing they could go to jail.

It's funny how after the fact people want to speak on him. Not defending him at all I think he's disgusting. If everyone that said they new something was not right about him then why DIDNT you do something about it. but no now everyone and their mama is going to speak on it. And you didn't personally speak on it how can you say complaints were ignored

Article comment by: Child abuse laws Followed

If any information was passed on to the principal about possible abuse she is required by law to report it to law enforcement. It sounds like several kids and parents did go to her so did she report it? If not she is also guilty of not protecting children

Article comment by: Complaints go unheard .

I worked for that school district but at the Quartzsite school. My child also attended. The things that were allowed raised those flags in my head. Yes they involved a teacher. I complained and even had the school board at my home. I got excuses and finally yanked my child out and quit my job! This just makes me sick to know this man here is also my neighbor. Time to quit the entire area and move!

Just because a person is creepy or weird doesn't automatically make them guilty of something. Look in the mirror. There is no such thing as normal. Please don't plant rumors, thoughts, ideas, or "I told you so's" into your children's heads. This sadly, has fogged our vision of teachers it has broken trust. If YOU are sincerely concerned that YOUR child somehow was involved, then YOU take it up with the authorities or the Superintendent. Be thankful that this very sick individual was caught. It happens everywhere. It is difficult to accept the reality of life, but be assured that his reality is going to become a constant nightmare if he is found guilty. There is a special place for people of this nature.

Wow! I am amazed at all the people that posted here had the same creepy feeling and question about his demeanor and the photo 'ops' this guy had at the school as I have since the first day I saw him. Authorities need to check out what he really photographed that was 'school oriented'. I first commented on the over zealous photographer and wondered who he was and why so many pictures to my daughter. I just thought that aspect was weird. He was my granddaughter's teacher last school year and I am glad he is out of there.
