Parker man faces drug and weapon charges
Special to the Times

A Parker man is facing drug and weapon charges after being stopped for a registration violation by Blythe police around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

A Blythe police officer stopped a 2004 Nissan Titan pickup truck driven by Mark Steven Paterson, 47, in the area of South Solano and 14th Avenue. A driver's license check on Paterson revealed his Arizona driver's license had been suspended and he did not have a valid driver's license from any another state.

Paterson was arrested for driving without a license and searched. He was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and he also possessed a loaded and concealed firearm inside his vehicle.

Blythe Narcotic Enforcement Team (BNET) arrived to assist and assumed the investigation at this point. Paterson was booked into the Blythe Jail for the following charges: Possession of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, under the influence of a controlled substance while armed, carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.

BNET is a multi-agency narcotic task force participated in by law enforcement agencies in the Blythe-Palo Verde Valley area. BNET's primary mission is to disrupt narcotic sales and diminish the availability of those drugs, thereby increasing public safety. Citizens are encouraged to report drug activity or information that could lead into the arrest of subjects involved with any criminal activity by calling the Colorado River Station at (760) 921-7900 or Blythe Police Department at (760) 922-6111.

Mark is a good friend of mine. He is also a very hardworking man, who made a mistake and will learn from it and should be given another chance. He has had numerous personal issues happen at once (not an excuse to do drugs) but just we have all made mistakes. He too is only human... i love you my friend and am here for you always

It states that Blythe PD pulled him over,so why is BNET getting credit for this just because they issisted after PD had already got this guy. BNET shouldnt be trusted they are just as dirty if not dirtier then the victims they arrest.

Very Sad!! Mark has been my bugman for numerous years and I have always trusted him in my home and still will. He's made a mistake, as we all have. I hope he takes a turn for the better after this.

If the charges prove to be true, please remember: Methamphetamines make good people do bad things, but that doesn't mean they are all bad people. They just need help to overcome and start over.

Mark the bug man. Always knew he was a little eccentric, but I never would have seen this coming. Very unfortunate, especially for a former Marine pointman.
