Physique and bikini competitions put off until next year

Jaclyn Randall
Former Times Editor

BLYTHE - The King of the Gym Physique competition and Queen of the Gym Bikini competition has been put off for a year due to only one person signing up for the competition.

"While there was a lot of real interest and support from the community for this type of an event, unfortunately we only had one sign up as of last Friday and we had to make a hard decision," said Marty Bachman, an organizer of the event. "We have a really great team that's working to make this happen and we're hoping that if we give people a year to plan, they can be better prepared and will be more apt to sign up."

Master Trainer Tyler Best encouraged people to make a goal of competing a year from now and also invited those interested in such competitions to travel to San Diego this weekend to watch local National Physique Committee (NPC) bikini competitor Tori Poole and figure poser Velda Poole at the NPC Pacific USA Bodybuilding Championships on Aug. 17, at the Scottish Rite Event Center, 1895 Camino Del Rio S.

Best also encouraged those with questions about training and/or competing, to feel free to approach him or either of the Pooles at the gym or on the streets with their questions so they can feel more comfortable in the gym.
