BLYTHE - Postal letter carriers across the country will "Stamp Out Hunger" this Saturday with the community's help. They are asking for residents who live along mail routes to gather any non-perishable item and place it by their mailbox for the letter carriers to pick up on May 11.
Ideal items to be donated are canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice. Items that have expired or are in glass containers are requested to not be included. The food collected will be delivered to the local pantry to be distributed to those in need.
If anyone wishes to donate in person, there will be drop-off dispensers located at the local office located at 200 E. Murphy St.
"Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive is an annual event sponsored by the United States Postal Service, Campbell's, Valpak,, Feeding America, AARP, United Way, and more.
