The first annual Blythe River Blues Festival was held May 26, 2012 at Quechan Marina. The festival featured Paul Winer, Blythe's own South Main Street Blues Band, Bernie Pearl Blues Band, 7th Sons with Bill McFadden, Deacon Jones, and Fran Banish. Over 400 came out to enjoy this event on the river. Stay tuned for next year's festival.

BLYTHE - Eric Gales will headline the 2nd Annual Blythe River Blues Festival, which is scheduled for May 25, Memorial Day weekend, at Quechan Park. Tickets are $15 and go on sale Monday at the Blythe Area Chamber of Commerce, 145 N. Spring St., or online at blytheriverblues.com.

Joining Gales on the bill will be The Record Company, Junior Watson, and Cadillac Zack. Returning to the Blythe River Blues Festival will be last year's headliner Fran Banish as well as local band South Main Street Blues Band. Boogie-woogie blues pianist Paul Winer of Quartzsite will open the show.

Also performing to blues music between sets will be The Dance Yard's dance hip hop crew, DH2Crew.

The gates open at 9 a.m. and the music begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 1 a.m.

"As great as the show was last year, this time it promises to be 100 times better," said event co-coordinator Mike Evans. "We have an unbelievable lineup of bands from all over the country delivering a variety of blues all day and night."

The wife and I were at the first Annual BRBF, had a great time,we met up with Deacon Jones after the show picked up his new book which he signed for us, looks like the line up for this year will be another great event. Looking forward to going, see you all there.

It looks like the event coordinators have secured top notch talent. I have seen music festivals grow through out this Country and financial help the towns that host them. Blythe has a unique opportunity for a Blues festival with the strategic location of the river and its jurisdictional surroundings. Blythe still might have a chance to prosper. Good Luck Blythe Blues Festival Committee!
