BLYTHE - Harmony Soup Kitchen served their annual Christmas meal on Dec. 21, ahead of the holiday. Volunteers came out this holiday season to help prepare the food and serve those who ate at the kitchen.
This year, the clients at the kitchen didn't just leave with bellies full of the traditional servings of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables and dessert, they also left with toys to hand out to their children or grandchildren, blankets, socks, coats and a limited number of the people also received gift cards with $20.
Also, paper sacks with food were made available for the clients to take home. The toys were made possible by Palo Verde High School Class of 2016, which held a toy drive at the high school.
The gift cards were made available by H.D. Ray, who collected donations of socks, blankets, coats, shoes and gift cards or money to hand out at the kitchen.
