BLYTHE, Calif. - The Miss Blythe Committee announces Oct. 4 as the date for the Miss Blythe 2015 Pageant scheduled for the Palo Verde College Palo Verde College Fine & Performing Arts Theatre. The local pageant serves as an official preliminary to the Miss California Pageant, which leads to the Miss American Pageant, held annually in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The winner of Miss Blythe competes for the title of Miss California in the summer of 2015 in Fresno, California.
All of the programs, Miss Blythe, Miss California, and Miss America, provide scholarship opportunities for the contestants.
Miss Blythe contestants compete in five categories of competition.
Personal Interview: Overall communication skills and personal presentation.
Talent: Past pageants have included vocal, dance, gymnastics, instrumental music, dramatic and comedic monologues. Must be 90 seconds in duration.
Evening Wear: This is a formal gown chosen by the contestant in which she will be judged on poise and stage presence.
Swimwear: This is presentation of the young lady in swimwear, exhibiting her poise and on stage presence in addition to her physical fitness.
On-Stage Question: The participants are allowed to display a casual outfit of their choice while also demonstrating their ability to answer a question related to current events spontaneously while on stage.
The pageant is open to qualified ladies who meet the following eligibility requirements:
Must be 17 years of age by Oct. 4, 2014
No older than 25 by Aug. 30, 2015
Female, never been married or pregnant.
United States citizen.
May never have been convicted of any crime.
* Registered as a full-time student or have a full-time job within the Palo Verde Valley; (can also qualify by location of school). The Miss Blythe Program adheres to the Miss California/America eligibility guidelines.
Must have a 2.0 GPA.

Applications for the next Miss Blythe are available at the Blythe Area Chamber of Commerce and Palo Verde Valley Times offices. Applications must be turned in no later than Aug. 27, 2014. A mandatory contestant/parent orientation will be Aug. 27, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the Comfort Suites in Blythe.
Interested candidates must also start preparing a 90-minute talent presentation now. It should be ready before the second week of rehearsals.
