BLYTHE, Calif. - A 36-year-old Blythe woman died early Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in a Tuesday night fire.

Blythe Fire Department and Blythe Police Department went to a structure fire call just after 9 p.m. April 22 in the 200 block of Gumwood Road in Blythe. When officers arrived, they found a fifth-wheel R.V. parked in the driveway of the home fully engulfed in flames. The woman was found inside with major burns over 90 percent of her body.

Blythe Ambulance took the woman to Blythe Airport where she was flown to a burn center in the Phoenix, Ariz. area.

Blythe Fire quickly put out the flames but the trailer was a total loss. Also, extensive damage happened to a singlewide mobile home on the property adjacent to the fifth wheel.

The woman, identified as Wendy Waymire, sadly, died from her injuries in the early morning hours of April 23 at the Maricopa County Burn Center in Phoenix.

While the cause of the fire is under investigation by Blythe Police detectives, the fire does not appear to be criminal.

Anyone with information about this case should call Blythe Police Detective Sgt. Jeff Wade at 760-922-6111 or give the information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 760-921-CARE (2273) or by email at blythepd@cityofblythe.ca.gov.
