A Blythe Police Department officer shot and killed a pit bull dog after it attacked a woman and her dog as she walked on a canal bank.

BLYTHE, Calif. - A Blythe Police Department officer shot and killed a pit bull dog after it attacked a woman and her dog as she walked on a canal bank.

Officers responded to a call March 28 just before 10 a.m. about a woman who had been attacked by a pit bull and was then attacking her small dog on the canal on the south side corner of East 14th Avenue and South Seventh Street. When the first officer arrived on the scene he found the victim lying on the bank while the pit was fighting with the victim's small dog. As the officer got near the victim and the dogfight, the pit bull went back to attacking the female victim by jumping on her as she was on the ground. The officer yelled at the dog, which then turned toward the officer and ran toward him. The officer reported the dog aggressively approached the officer who shot and killed the dog.

The victim was transported to Palo Verde Hospital by Blythe Ambulance, and was later airlifted to another facility for further treatment.

City of Blythe Animal Control is continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 760-922-6111 or they can give the information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 760-921-CARE (2273) or by email at blythepd@cityofblythe.ca.gov.

@....Elpicy. The thing is you people make comments about me and my comments. Then you get mad. So if you do not want to get mad, stop making comments directed at me. Simple tick per tack.

@....Freddy Winky. You use them expensive words here about 150 dollars worth. Just to say. Hey I'm paraphrasing here so work with me.

"Stop acting childish and self important."

Correction: nobody "brought" you into this particular "world". You just intruded yourself. Most of us, I think, would willingly encourage your finding something more productive to do to entertain yourself somewhere else. Of course, I realize I have just given you a bizarre reason to continue your endless senseless diatribe.Dang!

Mr. El Pica Buyas: Sir, indeed you are bigoted. However, you are not racist because you clearly do not possess the ability to deprive others of any of their civil or inalienable human rights. However, you do exhibit a distinct proclivity towards spouting inane and divisive foolishness. Therefore, I will not attempt to ingratiate your inflated sense of self-importance by addressing your childish, self-projected remarks. Iíd be willing to wager that it is very difficult for you to focus upon any established topic for more than a few moments. Am I right?
Yes, I am certainly more than satisfied with the phenotypically advantaged vessel which has been bestowed upon me by the Maker of All. Indeed, I can say unequivocally that if I were forced to endure the obvious pain with which you are burdened, I would in all likelihood leap headlong off of the nearest precipice with a bowling ball tied around my neck.
Please grow up soon, sir. Life is far too short to waste your time deriding others in a futile attempt to feel more important than you truly deserve.

@....@R Guzman. My off the wall comments. I was just doing fine, until you brought me into your world. Be-careful for what you wish for MIJO.

Between your "stuped" comments and El Pica Buyas' off-the-wall comments, I'd have to say it is a tie. You both are a waste of anybody's time. Guzman, your play-acting, actually, is even worse, as you are not very good at trying to be somebody you aren't and it reflects clearly on your character. You clearly don't care about that because we don't know who you are, but it certainly relegates your comments to the trash, right along with your cohort. Unplug their computers - forever.

@Fredrick. W. That place you wanted all not to go. Well you drove a Mack Truck into it. You just said that you are Black and all mighty. That you are above all. I am what you may call Black or African American and I resent such a stereotypical inference being posited by anyone.

Therefore, I urge you to please carry all unrelated and irrelevant drivel to another thread, or save it for the supper table indoctrination of your very unfortunate children. It is unwelcome on this thread and in the company of civilized persons.

You wanted people to stay off the race thing and it's the first thing you flaunt. I would make a reference about a pot and a kettle, but then I would be accused of being racist here.

So, since both the cowardly ďReal MexicanĒ racist and the anonymous, ďHispanicĒ racist have decided to attempt to co-opt this thread and segue into totally uncharted and unrelated waters, I must vociferously object to this uninvited usurpation of this very serious topic. This is not a game where we have been assigned to ferret out who is a Black, Mexican, Hispanic or Anglo person. This is an article recounting a story of a very unfortunate incident which transpired within the past week or two and should not be trivialized or minimized by anyone, especially in such an unwarranted, unmerited and certainly unsolicited fashion. People living in all parts of the world can and quite possibly are reading this newspaper online. One would think that by now, most Blythe residents would have progressed beyond such mindlessly bigoted nonsense. So, whether you like it or not, every comment being made here is likely to be received as being a reflection of who the good people of Blythe are. Therefore, I urge you to please carry all unrelated and irrelevant drivel to another thread, or save it for the supper table indoctrination of your very unfortunate children. It is unwelcome on this thread and in the company of civilized persons.

Now Iíve been sitting patiently on the sidelines, reading the various comments about this unfortunate and very tragic incident. However, I have to seriously question the relevance of whether Mr. Guzman is either a Hispanic, Black or (as some ignorant and clearly racist person phrased it), ďa Trailer Trash person.Ē You have to be living in the 1920s or 50s to be exhibiting such a backwards mentality by implying that simply because someone is using a dialect other than the accepted standard American English they are either Black or an economically disadvantaged person of European descent. I am what you may call Black or African American and I resent such a stereotypical inference being posited by anyone. We donít all look alike and thank God, we certainly are not all relegated to having access to inferior educations any longer.
The primary issue being discussed, within the context of the article, appears to be what actually occurred when the woman and her small dog encountered a pit bull or pit bull-type dog which, by all credible witness accounts, aggressively ran after and accosted the woman, her dog and a police officer who responded to the incident.

@Palo Verde Times. You think it's funny to let someone write in here pretending he's Hispanic? So is it OK if I write here pretending I'm black or a Trailer Trash person?
