Ironwood staff spread holiday cheer at local schools
Special to the Times

BLYTHE - Ironwood State Prison (ISP) staff spread holiday cheer at Appleby and Ruth Brown Elementary Schools on Dec. 18. A list of deserving names was provided to ISP staff by school faculty and staff went shopping for gifts with the intent of ensuring a child smiled at Christmas time. Warden David Long and Lt. Willie Hawkins were assisted by a number of ISP staff, including Community Resources Manager Carie Covel, Associate Warden Lorraine Scott-Barron, Facility Captain Sue Smith, Lieutenant Krystal Davis and Office Services Supervisor Lisa Crispin. Gifts purchased by ISP employees were passed out to over 40 children at Appleby and Ruth Brown Elementary Schools.

Long time subcriber short time living in this jewel, I love the idea of department of correction getting involved in the community. why only two schools and not margret white as well. Children dont know their social status ,so call poor or so call rich kids, they are all kids. I know , I know , some will say well the margret white kids are mostly well off because most of their parents work and are not on assistance from the govenrment nor relatives of our great correction system but they also deserve charity of a gift.

Where's Bob Cash? I don't see him in the picture. Wasn't he invited? Looks like everyone had fun just the same.
