Special to the Times

BLYTHE - Miss Blythe 2013, Ariel Ramirez, will be hosting the first annual Mr. Blythe pageant, a comical fundraiser event. Half the money will go towards Ariel's platform, which is "Teaching the Power of Service to Young Girls." She will use the money as she works with the young girls throughout the community during her year. The other half will go towards her preparation for Miss California. There will be four phases of the competition:

Onstage question will consist of answering a funny question in front of the audience.

Lifestyle in swimsuit will consist of coming out in a pair of board shorts of the males' choice and doing two pushups.

Talent can be almost anything. Ariel stated, "The sky is the limit when it comes to talent. Get creative and make the audience laugh or be serious and touch our hearts. Just have fun with it."

Contemporary wear is where the male may wear an outfit of his choice. An example would be something he would wear on a date.

The winner will receive a cash prize and bragging rights as Mr. Blythe with no obligations, as well as prizes for the runners up.

Any male from the age 15 and up may enter. Registration packets are available at Blythe Area Camber of Commence or you may get them from Ariel Ramirez. The contest is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2013 in the new Performing and Fine Arts Theatre at Palo Verde College.

Deja vu! Oh wait.. I guess these are contestants wearing swimming trunks to the college and not the boss wearing them to work. My bad.

What a great idea! But I think you might want to limit that age bracket there, I was thinking about signing up for a second there. It should at least range 15-25.
