BLYTHE - Palo Verde Unified School District (PVUSD) officials had a busy summer recruiting and hiring a cadre of new district level and school site administrators. With the start of the new year beginning on Aug. 21, there will be some new faces, many of the same faces, all with new positions.

For starters, Jeremy James has been appointed as acting director of Human Resources at the district office. James most recently served for five years as Felix J. Elementary School Appleby principal. Joining James at the district office is Lois Shaffer who will be working as acting director of Curriculum and Instruction. She also arrives at the district office after having previously worked as principal of Ruth Brown Elementary School for two years, Blythe Middle School principal for three years, and in the classroom at Ruth Brown and Appleby.

Stepping into the acting principal positions at Appleby and Ruth Brown Elementary Schools are Michael Yancey and Laura Mathews, respectively. Yancey who has many years of experience in the classroom, is moving to Appleby after working as the Learning Center teacher at Ruth Brown while Mathews, who also has a history of years in the classroom, was a sixth grade teacher at Appleby last year.

Ann Pennington steps into the position of Nutrition Services director for this upcoming year. Pennington spent over 20 years as Director of Child Nutrition Services for Alaska Gateway School District in Tok, Alaska. She is looking forward to being part of a great nutrition team here in Blythe.

Across town at Palo Verde High, students and staff will be greeted by Brandy Cox, who has officially been made Palo Verde High School principal. Vice principal at the home of the Yellow Jackets will be Del Drummond, who hails from the Riverside Unified School District where he taught special education for eight years.

PVUSD Superintendent Dr. Mike Davitt said, "The Palo Verde Unified School District staff and faculty are proud to have these fine administrators join our district administrative team."

Thank You. lets just hope, that the powers that be will not change their minds. Because they have a friend that needs a job.

Acting and Pro-term got those confused. Lets just hope that they do approve of them.
