Last day to file for council, school board seats

Marty Bachman

BLYTHE - Today is the last day to file nomination papers to run for Blythe City Council, Blythe City Clerk, Blythe City Treasurer and Palo Verde Unified School District Board seats. For city seats, nomination papers are available through City Clerk Mallory Sutterfield at Blythe City Hall and for the school board, papers are available at the superintendent's office.

So far all three incumbents on the Blythe City Council, Mayor Oscar Galvan, Vice-mayor Sam Patel and Councilman Joey DeConinck have qualified for the November ballot. Police Chief Steve Smith and former Blythe Police Captain Tim Wade have pulled papers but as of Wednesday, neither had filed.

Also pulling papers but not filing is Sean Gill

Sutterfield said she had qualified for the ballot and that nobody else had pulled papers for city clerk. Sutterfield said that City Treasurer Christa Elms had also pulled papers but has not filed. There are no other candidates for City Treasurer.

Board members Norm Guith and John Ulmer had both pulled papers but no others.
