BLYTHE - A Blythe man was arrested and booked into the jail for felony vandalism after Blythe police responded to a dogs barking call around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, in the area of Third and Rice streets.

A police sergeant was patrolling the area in response to the call, and saw a man, later identified as Charles Herrera, 20, of Blythe, attempting to hide in the alleyway between Third and Fourth Streets. The sergeant returned to the alley from the opposite direction, and contacted Hererra. While speaking with him the sergeant noted paint on his hands and patrol units began searching for fresh graffiti in the area, finding several locations that matched the paint on Herrera's hands.

Defaced buildings included three apartments, the Joe Wine Blythe Recreation Center, and two vacant buildings as well as a dumpster enclosure for a local restaurant.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Blythe Police Department at 922-6111 or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by email at blythepd@cityofblythe.ca.gov.

You should be proud of yourself getting your face posted on the front page of the paper - what does your family think of you? You are shaming your family name, duh!!! What a guy - NOT.

I would like to compliment the unidentified Sergeant for doing a great job catching this criminal. Blythe PD does deserve a pat on the back. Thanks to PVVT for running the story on front page with a photo. Why, I wonder no shirt on the culprit. I hope Dwayne Stewart at the DA's office pushes hard on this type of crime and does not allow a plea deal.

As a parent we try to teach our kids right from wrong. Sometimes that does not work. What will work in this case have him clean up the areas where there is graffiti. Why should owners or our taxes pay for what these (deleted) do for fun! He needs to be accountable for his stupidity!!Site Administrator's note: A portion of this comment has been removed because it violated our Terms of use Agreement. The only way most of us will learn right from wrong is when we pay. With money or hard work. Putting us in jail for petty crimes is a waste of money and time. Because we can do time, just waiting for it to pass. But if we have to work to make the time pass then that will cost us. So please put us in jail. But don't make me work my crime off. By making me clean up all of the graffiti in town for the next 3 years of my informal probation. heck why am I worrying about this the DA will never think about this punishment. That's if they ever can catch me.

So when is it an attack to say that he has been reported here on this paper, (deleted). If that is an attack then everything, we write will be an attack. My opinion of a personal attack would be if I wrote personal stuff about him. But to write about what already has been reported is not an attack. If i'm wrong, Please let me know. Also making a comment about the DA not doing the job. Is also not an attack.
