Man flown to hospital after cycle crash
Special to the Times

BLYTHE - Richard Waite ended up in Desert Regional Hospital with a broken leg after the motorcycle he was driving slid in the desert.

The day after Thanksgiving, Waite was riding his 1995 Honda 600R motorcycle on a desert trail just north of Water Wheel Resort, when he hit a dirt berm. The back of the cycle swung around causing the bike and Waite to hit the ground, breaking his left femur.

Another rider who was following a distance back found Waite on the ground, called for medical assistance and stayed with him. Care Flight 8 transported Waite to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs due to the severity of his injuries.

California Highway Patrol-Blythe office is handling the accident investigation.

It is the limited abilities of PVH Medical staff! And I am sure they got their CALL PAY anyway.
Can't wait Hudson and Sartin will want to increase the CALL PAY also.

If there had been an Emergency Clinic here there would be no need to transport the patient to another hospital. Unless it required surgery. So let me ask. Why is the hospital paying thousands of dollars to these doctor to be on call. When all they do is call for transportation. In that case pay me to do that job. Since it requires no brains. Yes I'm a no brainer. What I'm trying to say it's just a waste of money to pay these people to sit on their behinds. Just to order a nurse to call for transportation.

SO WHAT MAKES YOU THINK HIS FLIGHT AND HOSPITAL BILL IS GOING TO BE FREE JUST BECAUSE HE WENT ELSE WHERE. I'M SURE HE WOULD OF SURVIVED A BROKEN LEG. DON'T NEED A REAL HOSPITAL FOR THAT KIND OF TREATMENT.

Thank god they flew him to a real hospital. Had he gone to Blythe hospital god knows whether or not he would have survived to be able to pay the tens of thousands in medical and transportation bills that would have followed. Of course the hospital, surgeons, and ambulance companies then would just chase down his surviving family members or estate for payment, robbing his spouse and children of any inheritance that would have been.
