Special to the Times

BLYTHE - Palo Verde High School is proud to announce that senior Ariana Tribby is one of 80 national winners of the prestigious Nordstrom Scholarship in the amount of $10,000.

Since 1994, Nordstrom has awarded college scholarships to hard-working high school students from across the country. High school juniors located in one of the 31 states where Nordstrom operates a full line or rack store who demonstrate outstanding community involvement and scholastic achievement are welcome to apply for the scholarship. There were over 13,000 applicants nationwide this year and only 80 were chosen.

Tribby competed in the Los Angeles-area region against 1,229 applicants who had to submit a personal statement and an original essay. Tribby became one of 18 finalists to compete in interview round. The regional selection interview committee consisted of university educators, business leaders, community partners, and Nordstrom representatives. There were 12 final winners selected from the LA-area that helped make up the 80 national winners.
