10/2/2012 4:59:00 PM Rules for green waste removal
Special to the Times
BLYTHE - Now that fall is upon us, many homeowners are having their trees trimmed and yards spruced up for the holidays. As a friendly reminder, the city of Blythe and CR&R Disposal Service remind residents on how to dispose of their tree trimmings.
Commercial tree trimmers are required by city of Blythe ordinance to remove all tree trimmings as part of their services. For those residents that trim their own trees, please cut into four foot lengths and put in bundles of approximately 24 inches in diameter for easy handling. There will be no charge for up to six bundles. Those residents who have more than six bundles or four cubic yards of green waste can still have their tree trimmings removed, but there will be a charge for the additional amount.
Bundles are to be placed in the front yard near the curbside for easy pick up. Bundles shall not be placed on sidewalks or in the streets, blocking the public right-of-way. Because of fire and safety reasons, city officials ask that no green waste be placed in the alleys. Call CR&R Disposal Service at 800-922-2278 to schedule a pick up.
