Not too late to take classes at PV College

BLYTHE - Palo Verde College announces that it is not too late to take classes for this Fall. There will be credited and non-credited classes beginning Oct. 15.

PVC main campus credited classes being offered are for general background in business (BUS 101); beginning keyboard for those who have limited music experience (MUS 131); fundamentals in guitar music (MUS 073); reading and comprehension (ENG 101); nutrition for nursing which will emphasize nutritional needs of clients (NUR 117); introduction identifying and understanding EKGs (NUR 151); health education (HEA 140); and The Master Student for students to aid in motivation, attitudes and more (GES 115).

The non-credit (free) classes will be: computers for beginners (ABE 040); digital photo that will show how to manipulate pictures and how to work in Photoshop (NBE 017); quilting classes (NBE 039, ABE 064, NBE 079); conversational Spanish to use in the workplace (ABE 069); and English as a Second Language classes (NBE 084).

The music classes, computers, digital photography and quilting classes will be held in the new Fine & Performing Arts Complex, which is having a grand opening on Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m.

To sign up for the credit classes there are several steps that are required. All first time Palo Verde College students must complete an admissions application by visiting the college's website,, and click on Apply/Register followed by clicking on the "New Student" link. Follow the step-by-step instructions.

After receiving your student ID number and temporary password you will be able to register for classes. But if any student is interested in ENG 101 there will be a placement test that will need to be completed.

Interested students should apply for the Board of Governors (BOG) waiver. Qualifying students will have the enrollment fees waived.

Several of the courses offered do require books and for more information on costs visit Palo Verde College website.

Signing up for the non-credit classes is similar to the credit classes if you are a new student. There is no need to do a BOG waiver due to the non-credit classes being offered at no charge.

All students who are between the ages of 12-16 must complete a permission form and a paper registration. Registration forms are available at the front desk located in the John O. Crain Student Services Building.
