Blythe robbery suspects caught in Ehrenberg
Special to the Times

EHRENBERG - Three suspects in an armed robbery in Blythe Saturday night, were apprehended the same night in Ehrenberg by La Paz County deputies.

Deputies working a special enforcement detail in Ehrenberg around 8:30 p.m., were advised to keep a lookout for a suspect vehicle involved in a drive-by shooting and armed robbery that happened earlier in Blythe.

A few minutes after the call was received, deputies saturated the area of Interstate 10 and Exit 1 in an attempt to locate the vehicle. Several deputies searched the Flying J/Best Western parking lot and found the vehicle parked between two other vehicles. At the time, deputies noticed two individuals in the vehicle while another male was seen walking away from the vehicle towards the motel entrance.

Deputies reacted immediately and all suspects were taken into custody without incident. A visual inspection of the vehicle revealed a semi-automatic handgun on the rear passenger seat and a plastic baggie containing a large quantity of marijuana.

The suspects were identified as Christopher R. McBee, 20, of Yuma, Ariz.. Stanley J. Williams, 28, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Rollins R. Johnson III, 22, of Phoenix.

Information was relayed to the Blythe Police Department, which responded units to contact the suspects and process the vehicle for evidence of the crime committed in the state of California.

After processing the scene, approximately one pound of marijuana, $1,500 in cash and one handgun were recovered from the vehicle as evidence.

All three suspects were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale; all felony charges.

At this time this is an ongoing investigation and additional charges are pending from the California authorities for the crimes committed in Blythe.

"Fortunately we were conducting a special detail in the Ehrenberg area and were able to get additional officers to the scene quickly so that this incident did not escalate into a more serious incident involving these violent offenders," said La Paz County Sheriff's Lt. Linc Gilbert.

"The deputies did a great job in locating and securing these suspects quickly, not giving them time to contemplate aggressive action towards the officers."

I have to say, judging by the photos of these upstanding individuals, that they are liberal democrats and were selling dope to help fund President Obama's lobbying efforts for health care reform. Now it all makes sense...

well... at least it's not CRACK, not saying that marijuana is excusable. I bet these "wonderful" citizens don't even have a 5th grade education. It's going to be hard to pin the shooting charges without a victim, so it probably won't be filed. And, they will probably only get 5yrs or probation. So what's the big deal? Just another non-merited prosecution against "natures medicine" that being marijuana.

Why is this story special to the Times? Did someone outside PVVT write it? I agree, who was robbed and what did they take? What about the drive by shooting? I assume they are being held in AZ pending extradition. Was the marijuana the thing that was stolen? This story was written below the standards of a HS journalism article

Well of course they didn't have their medical marijuana cards. They are from Arizona.

O3T0, I have to agree, here is the middle of the story, with no start. I don't care much of the end, because of Californias stupid behaviorial laws, though

Two very important details the report left out. One, who was robbed in Blythe? Two, did the officers check to see if those fine outstanding individuals had their medical marijuana cards before arresting them for possession? But in any case, GREAT JOB!
