BLYTHE - A transient hanging out near the Greyhound bus station on Rice St. at Lovekin, was stabbed multiple times by a suspect on a motorcycle.
The incident unfolded the afternoon of Oct. 3, when Blythe Police Officer Emmanuel Gandara and several other Department personnel responded to the area of the Greyhound bus station in regards to the stabbing. On arrival, Gandara located 53-year-old Travis Hartman, a transient who had lived in the Blythe area for about one year.
Hartman told Gandara he was in the area of the Greyhound station when an unknown subject pulled up on a motorcycle, got off the bike and, for an unknown reason, stabbed him several times with a knife.
After the stabbing, the subject got back on his bike and left the area. Hartman said he does not know the subject and has no idea why he was stabbed.
Blythe Ambulance was called to the scene and paramedics treated Hartman's wounds and transported him to Desert Center where he was then flown to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs for further treatment. The suspect is identified as a white male in his late 30s, about six feet tall and about 165 pounds. He was last seen leaving the area on a dark colored Kawasaki motorcycle.
